Expert Q&A

1. How would you prove that the proposed saving is genuinely incremental?

Why it matters: a plan can repeat the incumbent’s work and still look impressive.

Good-answer framing: define a current-law baseline, isolate the additional decision, show assumptions, trace calculations and subtract all new costs. Ask how the expert handles uncertainty when the incumbent’s records are incomplete. Require a distinction between tax liability and cash payment timing.

Follow-up: “Show a case structure in which you recommended no new retainer.”

Evidence request: anonymised before/after calculation, implementation ledger and cost reconciliation, with client permission.
