Which price ranges should be withheld from public benchmarking?

Planning Basis research deskSection 11 · Page 5 of 12Last updated 3 November 2026

The original context estimates boutiques at $20,000–$75,000 annually; CPA advisory at $15,000–$100,000+; EA firms at $5,000–$40,000+; integrated firms at $25,000–$100,000+; and substantial tax-law projects at $10,000–$100,000+. Those ranges mix service scope and time periods, and no comparable quote sample was supplied.

Retain them only as clearly labelled internal assumptions pending validation. Obtain actual proposals with the same entities, states, deliverables and support terms before reporting medians or quartiles. A tax-law transaction project should not be presented as an annual alternative to routine planning.
